Designing for Real Life: A Vision for Homes That Feel Truly Lived In

WALLACEA LIVING

In Conversation with Sue Timney, Creative Director at Wallacea Living

When designing the new show apartment at Wallacea Living, Creative Director Sue Timney set out to create something far more meaningful than a polished show home.

“My ambition wasn’t to design a space that felt completely perfect; it was to create one that felt real and at the same time creatively beautiful. Somewhere that reflects the way people truly live: layered, personal, and warm.”

Elegantly designed by Timney, the interiors reveal a quietly luxurious, deeply lived-in atmosphere - elegant yet authentic, away from the polished perfection of a standard show apartment. Sue has mixed old with new in a way that feels effortless, a rare quality in show apartments, creating spaces that feel genuinely lived-in and full of character. Natural textures, curated art, and thoughtful detailing to bring warmth and sophistication in equal measure.

The light-filled living room balances sculptural boucle covered furniture and bold graphic artwork with handmade ceramics, woven textures, and botanical touches. It’s the kind of space that feels instantly inviting - a home that’s both refined and real.

“What excites me - as well as our creative philosophy at Wallacea Living - is the light, in our spaces ” says Timney. “It’s extraordinary. The space transforms throughout the day”.

From soft morning radiance to the golden calm of evening, the light brings warmth to every corner, animating the art, the ceramics, and the gentle palette of natural tones. The study and library are particularly striking. Lined with open shelving, filled with books and artefacts that tell stories. The kitchen and adjoining pantry continue this understated luxury, with muted cabinetry, marble worktops, and open oak shelving stocked with glassware and crockery. Every space feels tactile, usable, and serene.

“Each apartment is a blank canvas and a chance to create something truly personal,” says Timney.

Each home here is unique. The team is on hand to help owners shape their interiors into true reflections of who they are, and those inspired by Sue’s aesthetic can benefit from an optional bespoke interior design service.
